Department Summary:

The Office of Strategic Analysis & Reporting submits and certifies institutional data to federal, state, and legislature officials and other external agencies. The Office strives to conduct statistical analysis to provide the university community extensive and reliable information to help faculty, staff, and the university administration teams to make informed decisions.

Position Overview:

This is a professional position for the Office of Strategic Analysis and Reporting that extracts, transforms, analyzes, and certifies institutional data in response to internal information requests and external reporting requirements, including mandatory state and government data reporting. The Reporting Analyst will work in coordination with other data owners to compile and maintain accurate data to meet internal and external reporting deadlines. Work is performed with great independence and discretion under the supervision of the Director for Office of Strategic Analysis and Reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and five years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate and present information and ideas effectively in written and verbal forms to individuals and small and large groups
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of outcomes assessment in higher education
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on repetitive as well as new and unfamiliar projects
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of faculty and staff
  • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed
  • Understanding of current issues and trends in higher education, especially from an outcomes assessment perspective
  • Knowledge of functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate)
  • Knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate)
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, and/or similar ERP, reporting and/or data warehousing software.
  • Ability to plan and conceptualize and make sound business decisions
  • Must exercise considerable independent and professional judgment in matters of significance

Assists in the compilation of accurate and timely responses to state and federal reporting requirements, including reports to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and IPEDS.

o:

Organizes, evaluates, and responds to ad-hoc requests and external surveys in timely manners.

o:

Serves as a campus resource on best practices and research findings in outcomes related to state and federal reporting requirements.

o:

Creates queries, spreadsheets, and reports required for state and ad-hoc reporting and analysis.

o:

Identifies process issues, problems, and obstacles and provide solutions to the issues and problems found.

o:

Collaborates with different offices and data owners to ensure data accuracy and integrity and to facilitate the timely and accurate data reporting and analysis.

o:

Participates in varies meetings, committees and councils as assigned or designated.

o:

Provides accurate data, detailed analysis, and deep insights to management team for decision making.

o:

Works closely with the Information Technology and Shared Services (ITSS) department to edit, create, and generate data files required for state and federal reporting.

o:

Updates and maintains files on the office website.

o:

May performs duties as team leader or supervisor as assigned.

o:

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
