The Temporary RN will care for patients in an outpatient care setting to healthy normal volunteer research patients and to those with unusual and distinctive medical problems. Activities will include: providing direct, individualized care to adult (majority) and pediatric (occasional) research patients, phlebotomy and IV insertion, preparing and administering investigational medications, performing ECG’s, collecting and processing specimens, data collection, providing direction and health teaching where applicable in relation to study protocol activities, reporting and recording care rendered, and reporting the patient’s response to that care.

Minimum Experience/Education

Active Registered Nurse License
Must have current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR). Must be proficient in phlebotomy and/or IV insertion and have previous experience within the past 6 months.

Department Required Skills

Previous UNC Health Care, Epic and clinical research experience preferred but not required.

Looking for candidates who haven’t had a gap (more than 6 months) in direct, hands-on nursing care (administering IV medications, blood drawing and IV insertion) and preferably has worked for UNC Hospitals/Health Care or who already knows how to use Epic (electronic medical record).
