The Back on the Bull Community Health Ambassadors (hereafter referred to as “Ambassadors”) program is intended to provide additional in-person support to Durham businesses and essential workers to make it easier for them to comply with local orders and public health practices, such as wearing face coverings, which can reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission. The 4-6 Ambassadors will engage local businesses and visit them in person to provide support and help them increase compliance with local policies.
The primary purpose of the Ambassador position is to promote good will and effective health communication to Durham businesses in light of reopening among the COVID-19 outbreak, both as employers and as community members, and to provide community protective equipment and signage regarding COVID-19.
The Ambassadors will visit businesses to listen and understand the needs and challenges facing businesses and essential workers, to observe current practices, and to partner with establishment owners/managers to identify and remove barriers to compliance that can reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission among employees and customers.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Ambassadors will visit an average of 3-6 businesses per day, in person. The visits may range in duration based on size of the business and particular needs and/or concerns that should be addressed while present. The Ambassadors will be provided with community protective equipment.
Ambassador visits will include meeting with the business manager/owner; observing COVID-19 preventive practices; providing businesses with community protective equipment and written materials; assessing and responding to particular business needs; resolving problems; retaining positive attitudes; and communicating best practices. They must also help develop and maintain productive collaborative work relationships with each of the business owners/landlords/managers.
