JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), with an indirect report to the Executive Director of the National Institute for Underwater Vehicle Technology (NIUVT), this individual will manage and conduct National Industrial Security Program (NISP) operations. They will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated classified projects to ensure individuals are properly cleared with the United States (US) government. They will ensure classified information is handled in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and with all Department of Defense (DoD), Federal and Intelligence Community regulations that govern the critical security disciplines of both NISP/NISPOM and SCI classified contract-related security support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all individuals are properly cleared with the US Government.
  • Ensure all authorized individuals properly handle classified information, including proper markings and security.
  • Evaluate, determine, and maintain accountability on destruction of DoD and internally generated classified documents.
  • Oversee all aspects of Cleared Facilities activity.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Educate and train all relevant stakeholders.
  • Create and update security plans, procedures, and instructions.
  • Maintain working relationships with government agencies.
  • Supervise daily security activities.
  • Advises and assists with issues, processes, and requirements related to the conduct of secure research.
  • Assists with export control and international trade issues as required.
  • Assures University compliance with requirements to conduct secure research.
  • Perform access control responsibilities including managing badges, access cards and visit requests.
  • Conducts other activities related to secure research as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate academic discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Active Security US Government Security Clearance.
  3. Ability to multi-task, using strong analytical ability with attention to detail.
  4. Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  5. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  6. U.S. citizenship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Considerable knowledge of DoD security policies and procedures.
  2. Experience in the U.S. Military.
  3. Experience as an FSO or responsibility for FSO function for a Cleared Facility.

This is a full-time, annually renewable position.
