Primary Purpose of Position

The responsibilities of the Manager, Business Analysis position involve providing research and analysis that supports decision making processes at a senior management level and ensuring the continuous improvement of such processes. The Manager, Business Analysis is an experienced Business Analyst who has demonstrated significant skill and experience with University platforms and processes.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

The Manager, Business Analysis provides direction, guidance and support to a team of Business Analysts and is tasked with managing and completing projects large in size and complexity. The Manager acts as the intermediary between the business unit and OneIT, using a deep understanding of business processes and technology to help business partners achieve desired outcomes. The Manager must possess the basic competencies expected of a senior Business Analyst and have the ability to mentor junior and colleague Business Analysts in perfecting these skills. The Manager also works closely with the Executive Directors of Digital Strategy for the respective areas to align projects with overall University digital strategy.

Minimum Education/Experience

-B.S. in Computer Science or related field
-Working knowledge of PL/SQL, Java, software design principals, software documentation techniques, software development life cycle and software requirements development
-Solid grasp of IT Infrastructure including but not limited to, cloud environments, servers and storage, security and networking, enterprise applications, web-based architectures, authentication, and technical integration requirements
-Experience leading design reviews, testing methodologies and facilitating user testing
-5+ years leading Business Analysts with proven accomplishments

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

-Master’s Degree
-CBAP Certification
-Experience with Agile project management like SCRUM Framework

Communication Skills: Effectively communicate technical and non-technical information to stakeholders, including Directors, Associate Provosts and Cabinet level members. Ability to listen, build rapport and credibility as a strategic partner with the business unit. Communicate persuasively in both written and oral form. Utilize excellent writing, speaking and presenting with a wide range of audiences. Facilitate communication between business units and the OneIT technology solutions development community to enhance systems quality, efficiency and effectiveness.

Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to understand a problem, visualize it, analyze it, eliciting more information and solving it. Requires an investigative approach, logical thinking, problem handling and interpretation with the ability to think creatively. Proven ability to learn quickly, distill complex scenarios into easy understandable synopses.

Technical Skills: Experience with process modeling and process modeling tools used to create flow charts, mock-ups, working prototypes, and wireframes. Experience with project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile (Scrum, Kanban). Experience working with document management systems. Experience in leading and facilitating requirements workshops, design sessions and sprint planning meetings. Experience in Microsoft Office tools and Google Suite Applications.

Decision Making Skills: Ensure that technology investments enhance business capabilities and meet business objectives. Influence peers, stakeholders and leaders to make the right decisions.
• Working knowledge of PL/SQL, Java script, BB Scripting, software design principals, software documentation techniques, software development life cycle, and software requirements development.
• Experience working with Enterprise Application Systems solution.
• Experience leading design reviews, testing methodologies and facilitating user testing.
• Proven Business Systems Analysis skill set and excellent analytical and problems solving skills with strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Must show demonstration of creative thinking, adaptability, planning and organizing skills as well as successful decision making.
• Business Analyst certification desired but not required.
