3:00 pm – 11:30 pm, five days per week. Position must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate needs of the department. Days off vary according to events schedule.

This position is designated as ‘essential’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by any adverse weather conditions.

Primary Purpose of Position

This position performs and oversees the performance of building services and a variety of custodial duties throughout Student Activity Center & Venue Management. Accurately sets up hospitality, arena, and recreational spaces for Athletic, Recreation, special, and entertainment events.

Minimum Education/Experience

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, two years of experience demonstrating the ability to operate specialized floor-cleaning or other cleaning equipment and in performing medium to heavy physical work; or three years of experience as a housekeeper; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties

Position functions as Lead Worker in floor maintenance, housekeeping, and event set-ups.

When Building Services Supervisor is not scheduled, this position coordinates quality and direction of work of Building Services Technicians.

Reviews computer generated room reservation documents, interprets the request. Verifies facility is set per the instructions of the user.

Communicates with other supervisors and leads as to tasks accomplished.

Duties include both housekeeping tasks and arena/room set-ups.

This includes physically strenuous activities and detail-oriented tasks, such as cleaning or setting up staging or furnishings for arena and meeting rooms; installing portable basketball floor and goals; operating cleaning equipment.

Complies with safety instructions, rules, policies, and procedures in regards to activity, equipment used, and verifies staff do as well.

Experience in a supervisory and/or lead role.

Knowledge and experience in performing and leading others in performing a variety of custodial and event set-up tasks.

Knowledge and experience with cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning equipment, products.

Experience in arena set-ups, especially portable flooring, volleyball standards, basketball goals, carpet, tarps, etc.

Experience with room set-ups, to include tables, chairs.

Good communication, computer, and customer services skills. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
