Description The Processing Manager is a full-time exempt position that provides professional services and expertise to the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (VMA) and reports to the Assistant Director of the VMA. This position supports the certification and delivery of all types of veterans’ benefits to qualifying UCCS students. This position also evaluates the academic progress of these students as required by regulation and law. This position will also assist the Assistant Director of the VMA in providing services and programs that veterans, military members and their family members need and desire.Who We Are:

Job Duties:
    Maintain status as a School Certifying Official for veterans’ benefits and retain accurate records as required by University and the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) regulationsEvaluate the academic progress of students receiving benefits as required by regulation and lawMaintain compliance with VA and State Approving Agency (SAA) policies and proceduresEstablish, monitor, and maintain OnBase integration, workflows, and formsAdvise students, staff, and faculty about military benefits, VA and other military programs, VA and military policies, and VA Vocational Rehabilitation benefitsParticipate in the veteran, active military, and benefit designated family member orientation programBe responsible for day to day supervision of VA Work-Study and UCCS Work-Study student employees (currently 5.5 FTE). This position will assign tasks, monitor workflow, and check work product for timeliness and accuracyCreate, maintain, and approve budgets and timesheets for student employees.Coordinate with other UCCS VA Certifying officialsPerform weekly audit of benefits awardedAct as an advocate and liaison between students and UCCS and other outside agencies. Examples internal to UCCS are the Student Success Center (academic advising), orientation, the Registrar, and Office of Student Records, Student Financial Services (bursar) and faculty. Examples external to UCCS are the Denver and St. Louis Regional VA Offices, Go Army Ed (formerly CTAM), Al Portal (Air Force) and VA Vocational Rehabilitation.Assist the Assistant Director of VMA in sponsoring and participating in programs on campus that are of interest to military members, veterans, and their family membersAdvise the Assistant Director of VMA on activities undertaken in cooperation with off-campus military organizationsParticipate in professional development activities as assigned by the Assistant Director to include the VA/Colorado Office of Veterans Education and Training (COVET) School Certifying Official Workshops, as well as national or regional conferences as determined by the Assistant DirectorCoordinate with multiple individuals/departments to request data and information in support of the VMA mission and veteran studentsNavigate University Information Systems to research student information to assist in the education benefit certification process and provide relevant data to Director, Assistant Director, and other UCCS departments

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited institutionThree years of experience working in a responsible capacity with veterans, active duty military members, and their family membersThree years of personnel management experienceCurrent School Certifying Official or ability to become one within 1 month of hire.  Online training
Preferred Qualifications:
    Current or prior experience as School Certifying Official Familiar with the online systems of the military (tuition assistance, application, billing, degree plans, etc.) Working knowledge of OnBase, CU-SIS, VA-Once, Campus Solutions, and Microsoft OfficeVeteranExperience in a higher education setting working in a responsible capacity with students, faculty, and staff
Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, talking within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
