Job Description

The Research Specialist D will be responsible for independently designing, performing and analyzing laboratory projects examining the effects of the microbiome on preterm birth. They will be a critical member of a small team completing experiments addressing the aims of a federally funded grant. They will be required to manage mouse experiments, handle/care for pregnant mice and assist in survival surgeries. The specifics of our animal model will be taught. Proficiency in cellular and molecular techniques such as cell culture, functional assay developments, QPCR, ELISAs, western blotting and immunohistochemistry is required. The candidate must also exhibit excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong writing skills and the ability to analyze and present data clearly is necessary. The incumbent should be able to work independently and design, troubleshoot and complete experiments in a timely manner. They should be proficient in using computer-based systems including and not limited to Excel, Word and databases. The ability to work independently and with others is necessary.

Position is contingent upon funding.

Qualifications
Master' Degree with 3-5 years of related experience in research or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
