This position is within the Facilities Management Service Division.


Schedule : Monday Through Friday 8:30 am- 5:15 pm


The Director of Building Services directs theoperations of the Building Services Unit which is responsible for custodial,landscaping and grounds care, moving services and events setup in excess of 8million square feet. Servicing of over 75 buildings and 12 parking areas. Responsiblefor meeting these responsibilities by developing, updating and implementingeffective processes and procedures. Manages all operations by providingstrategic leadership and expertise. Provides leadership and supervision to agroup of over 200 employees and manage a large, complex and diverse department.Evaluates and recommends appropriate staffing levels to VPFM in providing aclean, safe and attractive campus environment.

Duties:

  • Manages day to day operations of custodial services,moving and events set up services, grounds and landscaping services. Meets andupdates VPFM on a regular basis.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to all assignedstaff.  Responsible for motivation,performance management, training, hiring, disciplinary process and developmentplanning.
  • Researches and implements environmental friendly productsand processes for cleaning and facilities maintenance.  Participates in the discussing appropriate productselection with Design and Construction Services department for public areas,classrooms and restrooms from custodial maintenance perspective.
  • Develops goals and objectives for annual operations.  Assists in the development and administrationof the departmental budget and controls expenditures within approvedbudgets.  Conducts monthly review withthe Director, Administrative Services for compliance.
  • Responsible for a pro-active safety program for workerssafety and regulatory compliance.
  • Performs other assigned duties.




QualificationsBachelor's degree and six years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
