Job DescriptionThe Department of Mining and Nuclear Engineering is seeking an Engineering Technician II for the Experimental Mine. The Engineering Technician II will work with Mining and Explosives faculty to obtain and maintain supplies/equipment to aid in the instruction and research needs. They should have the ability to apply skills and knowledge in a variety of technical processes, procedures and systems. The Engineering Technician II reports to and works with the Experimental Mine Supervisor on scheduling and operating all activities at the experimental mine, and is the acting supervisor in the absence of the mine supervisor. They will plan, construct and perform maintenance on technical equipment, as well as assist in the design of complex parts. This position provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or occur frequently and may assist in the development of new, technical and/or laboratory techniques. The Engineering Technician II is expected to participate in field trips and student events as needed with the potential for domestic and international travel. The Engineering Technician II will assist the mine supervisor in giving mine tours to school groups and the public as needed and will supervise student workers at the experimental mine. Minimum QualificationsAn Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Background in mechanical and/or electrical systems and maintenance thereofAbility to obtain Hazmat CDL certification within 1 year Ability to obtain MSHA 50023 within 1 yearWork towards Missouri Blasters Licensure Comments
