Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop college preparation curriculum for 9th -12th grade Harlandale !SD students
  • Educate and serve as an advisor to students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, transitioning from high school to college, financial aid, trends, procedures, and testing. Serve as an advisor for juniors and seniors and their families through the college search and application process:
  • Advise sophomores on a high level regarding preparing for the college admissions process.
  • Coordinate college.advising an.d initiatives to support student's testing and academic performance (i.e. TSl, AP Testing, ACT/SAT prep, Math and English boot camps, etc.)
  • Work closely with high school and college counseling staff to develop a network of services and options for Harlandale ISD high school students.
  • Coordinate efforts to help students explore and get to know Texas A&M University-San Antonio Serve as the liaison between Harlandale ISD and Office of Admissions at Texas A&M University­ San Antonio
  • Be informed and address the needs and challenges of students in Harlandale !SD and support services offered at Texas A&M University-San Antonio
  • Counsels prospective students on all aspects of the admissions process. Coordinate and implement the recruitning plan including scheduling and reporting on recruitment visits/events.
  • Plans and executes recruitment event programming both on and off-campus.
  • Assists and encourages prospective students through the application process.
  • Develop pathways and provide advisement related to the transferability of coursework completed through dual credit and early college programs
  • Utilizes Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) to communicate and enter all prospective student information.
  • Counsels prospective students on the phone, e-mail, and in person. Follows directives regarding strategic planning and recruitment strategies.
  • Represent the university at high school visits, college fairs, and other college recruitment events.
  • Works collaboratively with on-campus partners in order to further the mission of the Office of Admissions. This includes collaborating with academic departments to promote academic programs by coordinating program specific recruitment events, financial assistance/admission application workshops, and military student recruitment programming to increase new student enrollment.
  • This position serves as the primary contact for prospective students and their families, high school counselors and community partners in Harlandale ISD
  • Responsible for follow up with inquiries and applicants by performing preliminary evaluations of transfer credit for incoming transfer students.
  • Represent the university at recruitment events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field and no experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet; and datab􀂽se applications. Knowledge of admissions functions of higher education.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
