The division of Nephrology and Hypertension maintains a full spectrum of clinical services, including management of acute and chronic renal failure, renal transplantation, and hypertension. The division has extensive experience in hemodialysis, all forms of peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, plasmapheresis (including immunoabsorption), renal biopsy, and immunosuppression management.
The division maintains several chronic dialysis units, one on the East Carolina University School of Medicine campus, and others off campus. In addition, the University maintains an active renal transplant program performing approximately 100 transplants per year.
The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to assist with data collection/analysis for clinical research. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: assist the research lab supervisor and PI’s with all aspects of record-keeping related to the studies; maintain accurate charges and expenses related to the study; represent ECU, Division of Nephrology, at study monitoring visits, and national investigator meetings.
The selective candidate will perform very specific directives to include but are not limited to, collection of urine, labeling of specimens, storage of samples, and sample preparation for testing. Clinical duties include exposure to body fluids necessitating understanding and training in universal precautions.
CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.
The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.Minimum Education/Experience
