The Division of Health Sciences is the largest and most complex division within the University, employing more than 700 EPA employees and 1,700 SPA employees. The Division is composed of numerous Centers, Institutes, and agencies such as the East Carolina Heart Institute and Eastern Area Health Education Center, the Colleges of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing, the Brody School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine, and the Laupus Health Sciences Library. In addition to the academic and administrative responsibilities of the division, the four professional schools provide clinical services throughout eastern North Carolina in a variety of settings and venues. The School of Dental Medicine is composed of 7 administrative offices and four academic divisions. The Administrative units include the Office of the Dean, Associate Dean for Planning and Extramural Affairs, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Assistant Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, Assistant Dean for Academic Support and Faculty Development, Associate Dean for Research, and the Office of Business and Financial Affairs. The 4 academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Foundational Sciences, Orthodontics/Pediatric Dentistry and General Dentistry. Included in the mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the underserved population of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide both educational experiences for the dental students and residents and provides dental care to the residents of North Carolina. These clinics occur in both Ross Hall in Greenville, North Carolina, as well as Community Service Learning Centers located throughout North Carolina. In order to operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed.

Job Duties

The Pre-Clinical lab Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Simulation Lab and the Preclinical Technique Lab. This individual works closely with each preclinical course director who uses the facilities to ensure that all materials, instrumentation and equipment needed for the laboratory exercise are available and ready for use. This position also insures that equipment and instrumentation in both the Clinical Simulation Lab and the Preclinical Technique Lab are well maintained and the labs are in pristine condition. This position issues instrumentation and equipment to students for after hours use and maintains a proper inventory to insure that the equipment and instrumentation is returned in proper working condition and at the appropriate time. This position is responsible for maintaining the equipment and instrumentation inventory and replacing equipment and instrumentation when needed. This position works with the preclinical course directors in providing instruction and supervision of students during the lab sessions. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and works closely with Department Chairs, Division Directors, Unit Chiefs, Preclinical Course Directors and the Office of Business and Financial Affairs.
