Extension Program AssistantJob Description:
- Assist the natural resources agent in maintaining filing systems for correspondence, annual reports, news columns, newsletters, and publications. Assists in creating blogs and promoting natural resources program via social media and website. Assist the agent in the Florida Master Naturalist Program and Florida Master Naturalist Volunteers. Reserves meeting room, schedules time, sets up necessary equipment and prepares class material. Registers participants for workshop sessions. Receives, screens, and routes telephone calls according to specified procedure. Answers routine questions without routing.
- Responsible for assisting agents, administrative assistant, and Master Gardener Volunteers with incoming calls, visiting clientele, internet research, drafting correspondence, newsletters, blogs, program event applications, and brochures.
- Work as a team with administrative assistant to provide office support including maintaining appropriate staffing and office coverage. Provides program support by creating and maintaining clientele databases with updates, as necessary. Design forms and recordkeeping systems for program support. Orders program materials and handles program registration fees and other payments. Assist with 4-H Youth Development summer programs and workshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Natural Resources Agent/CED
Typical Work Schedule:
Office hours are 8:00 to 5:00 with an hour lunch, M-F. Schedule may be subject to change as needed for office coverageExpected Salary:
Pay Range Based on Market:
Lower reference point: $30,500 Midpoint: $38,100 Upper Reference point: $45,700Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Florida driver licensePreferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of county and UF/IFAS Extension office policies and procedures.
Skill in analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
Skill in the preparation of clear and precise reports.
Proficient in technology and social media
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position. For purposes to travel to Hernando County Administration, IFAS Gainesville, stores to buy necessary materials and supplies and other duties assigned.
