Job Description:

The HealthStreet Director of Operations (DOO) (UF Title: Research Coordinator III) is responsible to the Director of HealthStreet (Dr. Linda B. Cottler) and is the supervisor of all HealthStreet operations. The DOO oversees the management of an internationally recognized community engagement research program. HealthStreet links community residents with medical and social services, and opportunities to participate in research. The HealthStreet model is also engaged with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) of UF. The DOO works closely with all staff of HealthStreet employed by the Department of Epidemiology, located in the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and the College of Medicine (COM). The DOO oversees functions and ensures metrics are followed, develops new relationships with investigators for studies, aids in the development of new initiatives, keeps the cohort identification database up to date and makes presentations on our behalf. The person is the face of the organization.

The DOO will oversee all functions at HealthStreet, including promoting community engaged research at the University of Florida and will work with our FSU partners. The DOO will develop structured, ongoing communication strategies to assure community engagement, and to ensure HealthStreet manuals are up to date and protocol fidelity is kept. This effort requires managing, training, and supervising Research Navigators, Community Health Workers (CHWs), student interns, and volunteers, keeping schedules and documenting all activities.

The DOO will will supervise the marketing and communication specialist for HealthStreet as well as oversee the work product of this position, which is responsible for establishing rapport with news media on behalf of HealthStreet, developing news releases for HealthStreet, overseeing a multi-site Our Community Our Health quarterly town hall meeting initiative for the CTSI, along with keeping up with the other national sites and managing the video conferencing and selection of speakers.

The DOO will work with Chairs and Assistant Chairs of all clinical departments within the Health Science Center to increase visibility of HealthStreet and enlist new studies.

The DOO will work with the Human Studies Committee to determine the logistics for documenting research studies that are open for recruitment and navigation, and their inclusion and exclusion criteria; the DOO will also work with research coordinators at UF and the fiscal managers of CTSI and Epidemiology to be sure that the studies have been invoiced monthly for the work performed.

The DOO will work with the Data Management Analyst II on the analyses of data for publication, and develop presentations, using PowerPoint software, for meetings with investigators, locally and nationally.

The DOO will help seek donors and foundation resources for HealthStreet.

The DOO will review the completeness and accuracy of all presentations given by the Director and Co-Director for meetings with investigators locally and nationally and create an archival database of these presentations.

The DOO will assist in grant writing related to HealthStreet aims and goals. He/She will participate in national and local conference calls.

The DOO will work with the CAB, CERP and Recruitment Center of the CTSI to make HealthStreet a functioning, state of the art community engagement program at UF, working with the protocol established by the Executive Committee of HealthStreet.

Expected Salary:

$44,700-$62,000 annually, commensurate with education, skills, and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Possess the equivalent of an MPH with at least two years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of and good rapport with the Gainesville community
  • Ability to manage people and keep staff motivated
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, coupled with the knowledge of when to seek advice
  • Honest, trustworthy, able to think strategically as demonstrated in interview
  • Ability to manage day to day activities while juggling other responsibilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality
Special Instructions to Applicants:

Normal work schedule is Monday-Friday during HealthStreet hours. Coordinator will supervise as needed on Saturdays when HealthStreet is open. Overtime is expected and required as needed to meet the demands of the position.
