Department of Surgery in the School of Medicine is seeking an Administrative Medical Scribe Specialist within the Division of Transplantation. This individual will support the Chief / Director of the Charles O. Strickler Transplant Center. They work under the general direction of a supervisor and have a demonstrated capacity to work independently as well as the authority to make decisions based on standard operating procedures and policies, or per the guidance of leadership. They may have latitude to set procedures to accomplish work tasks.
The incumbent will perform clerical and administrative work and Medical Scribe functions. Medical Scribes provide research and clinical assistance to faculty by performing on-site medical transcription. The incumbent will work directly with patients to obtain patient data as required by protocols. In addition, they will enter data into project and medical record databases and assist with documentation. The incumbent may accompany physicians on patient encounters to record accurate medical information including notes of communication, past medical records, laboratory results, etc.
Administrative Assistant Job Responsibilities Include:
1. Provide general, clerical coordination to support office operations.
2. Assist with arranging business travel, scheduling meetings, and supporting agenda management and expense tracking.
3. Review and answer correspondence, as well as screen callers and visitors, which may include confidential matters.
4. Maintain electronic files and produce reports.
5. Provide administrative support for special projects.
6. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Medical Scribe Job Responsibilities Include:
1. Inpatient and outpatient rounding with various members of the Division of Transplantation
2. Ensures patient charts are accurate and thoroughly documented according to University and Medical Center policies.
3. Assist faculty and researchers with reports, researching records, and disposition of information.
This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.

Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least six months of experience with medical transcription
