SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Parent Giving is charged with securing annual and leadership gift commitments from alumni and parents for the Athletics division. Gifts will help support the student-athlete experience and provide the resources necessary for student-athletes to be successful in the classroom, community, and in competition.

The Assistant Director performs a variety of activities related to the cultivation and solicitation of Athletics donors and prospects, including assisting with strategy development, goal forecasting and managing the implementation of fundraising communications and personal solicitations.

This position will solicit financial contributions within and outside the Greater Richmond area to support the University of Richmond Athletics Department and will require regular travel to Athletics events and regular attendance at home and away games as well as some travel for donor visits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and execute personal visits with prospects and donors, as well as visits with Director of Athletics and other athletics leadership to cultivate and solicit leadership gifts (50%)
  • Manage a portfolio of 125-150 prospects and actively cultivate, solicit and steward. (20%)
  • Develop and implement a plan to solicit, cultivate, and steward parents of current student-athletes and maintain the parent newsletter (20%)
  • Work to identify new sources of potential philanthropic support by qualifying potential donors (5%)
  • Attend select development meetings and divisional activities. Maintain up-to-date contact and proposal records in the university’s database. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, in conjunction with comfort level of working in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects required
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment
  • Experience working with and managing volunteers preferred
  • Personal solicitation experience required
  • Skill in use of personal computers, standard office software applications, and fundraising software, with an understanding of database management
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Valid driver’s license with a good 3-year driving history

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education, with a proven track record of success

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
  • Regular and frequent travel/out of office appointments
  • Willingness to work frequent evenings and weekend in conjunction with Advancement events and other University events

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $44,775.00 to $59,325.00 annually)
