Under minimal supervision, this position will manage the graduate students HR paperwork and accounts, which includes hiring and making tuition payments for all graduate students, in addition to hiring undergraduate student helpers. This also includes processing account changes for graduate and undergraduate student hires. The position will coordinate and manage accounts related to the advertisement, nomination, selection, and payment of all graduate and undergraduate student awards, such as scholarships and fellowships, in addition to managing the department’s USC Educational Foundation Accounts and processing the payments for departmental travel and seminar awards. Finally, the position will serve as the webmaster, which includes administering, maintaining, updating, and coordinating the development of new material for the department’s website.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer candidate with experience in web design, website management, student hiring and account management.


Must have thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures and be able to handle constant interruptions and changes. Must feel comfortable working with data related to finance, accounting, and payroll. Attention to detail. Have the ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions and train faculty and staff on new platforms, when needed. Must be able to prioritize assignments and work with minimal supervision. Hardware and software troubleshooting experience helpful; must be able to find solutions to problems. Knowledge of office management policies, practices and procedures preferred. Ability to communicate well the workings of payroll to personnel, both verbally and in writing. Must maintain an effective working relationship with faculty, staff, and students and be a team player. Should be familiar with techniques, procedures, and methods of programming web-based applications and database design.
