The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level to develop a research program in health services, health quality and/or implementation, mental health policy within the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health (http://www.med.unc.edu/psych/cecmh) and the UNC Department of Psychiatry (https://www.med.unc.edu/psych/). The Center provides a continuum of multi-disciplinary, recovery-based care to persons with mental illness in central North Carolina and has several innovative programs including a specialty medical home for persons with chronic mental illness, a state-wide technical assistance program for assertive community treatment (ACT) teams and supported employment programs, and programs for justice-involved individuals. The successful candidate will develop an independent research program, and participate in multi-disciplinary collaboration within the Center and Department of Psychiatry, and with other departments and schools within UNC, government organizations, and the private sector. There is an opportunity for joint appointment with Gillings School of Global Public Health (https://sph.unc.edu/) and the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research (https://www.shepscenter.unc.edu).

Educational Requirements

Applicants must hold an MD/DO, MD/PhD or PhD.

Qualifications and Experience

The core requirements for this position are: (1) a research focus on health services related to mental health and substance abuse services, best practices implementation, and policy; (2) strong research skills with a relevant publication record in peer-reviewed journals; (3) a record of grant-funded scholarship with the strong potential for obtaining independent research funding.
