The University of Missouri-Kansas City invites applications for the Director of Admissions. The Director of Admissions serves as an integral member of UMKC’s strategic enrollment management team. The Director administers the operational, financial, and personnel functions to accomplish the university’s enrollment goals and objectives, providing campus-wide leadership in recruitment of students while using data to make data informed decisions. The Director will coordinate the domestic student recruitment and yield programs, including communications and marketing via the SLATE Customer Resource Management (CRM) system. Additionally, this position will oversee the application and admission processing for all undergraduate, graduate and professional programs including international admissions.
Direct and administer the operations and services of the Office of Admissions, including recruitment of undergraduate students. Direct the admission of applicants to the university, ensuring for timely and efficient processing of applications to a decision. Ensure compliance with federal, state, national organizations and university regulations concerning student admissions. Hire, train, and evaluate professional staff; oversee the hiring and supervision of clerical support staff. Advise and assist deans, directors, and faculty, as well as students and families, on admission policies and procedures. Review applications of students who are not fully admissible to the university or who have been denied admission for possible trial admit.
Oversee use of the student information systems and other technology to ensure efficient processing. Develop and monitor department operating budget. Direct the recruitment and admission of all levels of students at UMKC. Develop strategic plans to accomplish enrollment management goals that support the university’s goals and objectives between the Volker and Hospital Hill campuses. Direct and coordinate the student recruitment program, including visitation and marketing programs at high schools, community colleges, and community organizations within the state of Missouri as well as out-of-state. Direct on-campus and virtual programs for prospective students and their parents, high school and college counselors, and special interest groups. This work will be done via technology platforms and external strategic partnerships to provide a multi-channel approach in building relationships and connections to grow enrollment. Direct the communications with high schools, other colleges, prospective students, admitted students, and returning students.
Work with the Senior Vice Provost for Student Success and the Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment Management to provide enrollment planning reports to deans and other administrators to assist them in their yield efforts. Build and maintain relationships with internal customers (i.e., faculty and other administrators) as well as external community partners who may be important to the overall mission of the office. Provide university-wide leadership in relation to recruitment strategies to assist in the recruiting of special populations, such as underrepresented minority students, and as liaison to area high schools, community colleges, and community organizations for the purposes of recruiting students to UMKC.
A master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, marketing and presentation skills and have a strong background working in an admissions office as a mid-level manager or director. Additionally, experience with a deep understanding of PeopleSoft (ERP) and Slate (CRM) or similar types of data systems.
Full Time/Part Time
$71,900 – $85,806
To be commensurate with experience.
