  • Position Description:

    The Director of Admissions-College of Medicine and Life Sciences (COMLS)Programs serves as the leader of operations for the MD program and has primaryresponsibility for coordinating key admissions functions across other select academicprograms in COMLS.  The director willcollaborate with personnel across COMLS academic programs who haveresponsibilities in admissions-related areas to help develop and implementcomprehensive recruitment and communications plans. The Director of Admissions-COMLSPrograms also assists the Assistant/Associate Dean of Admissions and StrategicEnrollment with strategic initiatives to develop and implement a sharedfoundation for admissions decision making across all programs. This valued teammember will perform at a high level of professionalism in accordance with allaccreditation standards, University and COMLS policies, centralized applicationservice requirements, and other mandates to help insure the integrity of theadmissions process for all assigned degree programs in the College of Medicineand Life Sciences. 



    • Proficient in advanced features of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), internet use, and web conferencing applications (e.g., WebEx).
    • Advanced ability to collect, monitor, manage, and report/display data including proficiency in advanced data analysis and data visualization functions of Microsoft Excel.
    • Experience with Blackboard/Blackboard Collaborate or other learning management system, OmniUpdate or other web content management system, and Concur or other purchasing card accounting system.
    • Highly organized, demonstrating an exceptional ability to execute multiple, complex, high-priority tasks to meet strict deadlines..
    • Self-directed and detail-oriented, demonstrating an exceptional ability execute tasks with minimal supervision at a high level of precision.
    • Frequent local, regional and national travel required.
    • May include occasional lifting of boxes and other items up to 20 lbs.


    • Master’s degree in higher education, business, or related field.
    • At least 5 years of experience working in higher education in a student-serving capacity.

    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally competent manner.
    • Excellent written communication skills, including proper English language usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
    • Highly competent public speaker, including the ability to tailor speaking presentations to a variety of different audiences.
    • Highest levels of confidentiality and discretion in daily interactions with University stakeholders, applicants/prospective applicants, and others with regard to application data and information.
    • Superior professionalism in all collaborations with University and community stakeholders, including an openness and ability to collaborate with professionals from a wide range of academic disciplines.

    Working Conditions:This individual works in a professional office environment and will be required to handle multiple tasks while maintaining deadlines. May need to work irregular hours to accommodate the COMLS program needs, including programming during some evening and weekend hours. Need to have the ability to lift 20 lbs. and set up for meetings, recruitment events, etc. as needed. Will be required to travel locally (metropolitan Toledo), regionally, and nationally several times annually. Will interact regularly with prospective students, current students, staff, faculty, and the general public.
