Job Description Summary
Under a broad scope medical license, the Health Physics Technician C will perform surveys with portable and laboratory instruments; audit radiation use areas to ensure regulatory and license compliance; develop training programs and provide training; provide support of EHRS website and database development; maintain effluent sampling and monitoring equipment; provide support of institutional decommissioning program; respond to spills/incidents (24 hour on call); evaluate and interpret regulations and assist in compliance; manage technician work schedules; act as lead on small projects or programs; provide support for the University's Biosafety, chemical and environmental safety programs; perform other duties as needed to support the radiation safety program; Work is performed under general supervision.

Responsibilities:
-Perform audits and/or surveys of groups using radiation sources with focus on high use or problematic areas. Assist in identifying problems,
analyzing issues and implementing corrective actions.
-Perform technical projects as assigned. May act as lead on small projects or programs. Provide support of EHRS website and database
development.
-Maintain effluent sampling and monitoring equipment.
-Develop training programs and provide training.
-Provide support of institutional decommissioning program.
-Respond to radiation related emergencies.
-Provide health physics support for radiation therapy procedures. Provide training for patient care staff. Interact with clinical staff to ensure
staff and patient safety.
-Other duties as assigned

Job Description

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required, MA/MS in science preferred plus 3-5 years of experience in Health Physics or related field or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Strong computer related skills associated with website and database development highly preferred.
