Requirements

We are currently seeking to hire a new Research Technician II to join our team. This position is responsible for performing basic research in a laboratory setting.

Primary duties include:
  • Performs routine laboratory maintenance and research activities such as: general housekeeping, wipe tests, ELISA assays, preparing solutions, media, stains, and buffers; cultures and specimens; autoradiograms and photomicrographs, executing biochemical procedures such as: electrophoresis, blotting, chromatography, and DNA extractions, etc.
  • May perform advanced laboratory research activities such as: animal surgery, recombinant DNA techniques, protein purification, and hybridizations, etc. May participate in the design of research studies.
  • Will contribute significantly to ongoing mouse studies by caring for, dissecting, taking samples from, and injecting lab mice.
  • Compiles and may analyze research data using Excel, Prizm, InStat, MATLAB, and other advanced software programs.
  • Assists with literature research, editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.
  • May perform administrative duties such as: training and guiding students and/or other laboratory technicians; assisting in developing policies, procedures and/or methods for laboratory experimentation, and ordering supplies


Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, and/or related field (Masters preferred) and experience in laboratory research. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation.
  • Selected candidate will have the ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments, ability to work as part of a team and the ability to use a consultative approach to resolve issues in area of responsibility.
  • The selected candidate will also be able to perform research in a laboratory setting working with independence for all routine procedures and lead certain research activities and perform various advanced procedures.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and assisting in the preparation of technical procedures and reports are important.
  • Ideal candidate will already be highly proficient in performing the above listed skills, requiring little training.
