The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, one of 12 Schools in a highly ranked institution, is dedicated to the integration of interdisciplinary research, education, and practice. The Family and Community Health (FCH) Department in the School of Nursing seeks candidates for an associated faculty position on the non-tenure practice track in Psychiatric Nursing. We invite individuals prepared at the doctoral level (PhD or DNP) to apply to the Associated Faculty (practice track at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor).

Applicants must have content expertise in Psychiatric Nursing and be eligible to be licensed as Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Pennsylvania. Our Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, consistently ranked among the top programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report, offers a holistic approach that blends behavioral health, neuroscience, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Our advanced practice nursing degree is geared to RNs who are interested in graduate coursework focused on mental health care, and integrates assessment, pharmacological treatment, and therapy for a wide spectrum of patients - from children and adolescents to adults and older adults.

The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in both the undergraduate and graduate program. Interested parties must have experience in academic program leadership, curriculum development/evaluation, academic teaching using multiple modalities (didactic, online) and working with an interprofessional audience of physicians and nurses. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate numerous sources of complex information is required. Excellent writing skills are essential. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills needed. Eligibility to be registered as a nurse in the state of PA is required. The candidate must also be eligible to be licensed as a CRNP in Pennsylvania.

Qualifications
Academic teaching experience is required and should meet minimum qualifications:
  • Demonstrates high quality teaching in the discipline of nursing or related sciences via peer review and student evaluations.
  • Uses a range of teaching and evaluation methods within the curricular framework identified by the SON.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop effective courses in their area of expertise.
  • Is a recognized content expert in the discipline of nursing or related sciences.
  • Demonstrates ability to operationally lead a course.
  • Has a beginning record of publications and local presentations in his/her content area.
