Position Summary:

The core discipline of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry is the understanding of the molecular mechanisms that underlie all fundamental biological processes. To that end, the faculty of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry represent diverse research interests that include structure and synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids, gene organization and regulation, cell signaling, immunology and host pathogen interactions, biochemical genetics, cell and developmental biology, microbiology and virology.

Under supervision incumbent performs repetitive laboratory tasks including standard molecular biology techniques, plasmid DNA preparation, restriction enzyme digestion, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, bacterial cell culture, protein purification and crystallization. Incumbent’s duties also include laboratory inventory, ordering and record keeping.

Compensation Range:

Hourly Rate: $17.85 - $19.19

Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and work well with others or alone under moderate supervision. College level knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology. Ability to read, write ad converse fluently in English.


Experience in cell culture techniques. BS degree in biological sciences. Basic computer skills.
