This position is a part of the carpenter shop, responsible for providing all repair and maintenance service across the university campus. The incumbent performs under general supervision and requires the application of standard trade practices in providing carpentry maintenance and repair as well as incidental support for electrical and plumbing repairs.

Required Qualifications

•High School Graduate or equivalent.
•Significant carpentry experience with additional experience in basic electrical and plumbing repairs.
•Considerable knowledge in the practices, methods, materials, and tools of the carpentry trade.
•Demonstrated ability to perform general carpentry work in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding, concrete forms, wood fixtures and furniture.
•Demonstrated ability to interpret construction specifications and drawings and conduct research using vendor submittals.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing, decide on means and methods of task accomplishment on work orders with general guidance by supervisor;
•Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

Basic computer skills.

This position is subject to overtime and schedule changes and may be required to work shifts during weekends, holidays, and special events.

Incumbent will be required to participate in the Facilities Management “on-call” program.

This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, will require reporting to work when the University is officially closed, and is subject to overtime.
