Instructional Support Coordinator

The Coastal Carolina University LIFE program seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Instructional Support Coordinator (time limited with benefits), reporting to the Assistant Director of the LIFE Program. The Instructional Support Coordinator will be responsible for providing instructional supports, classroom instruction and advising based on students’ individual needs in a hybrid setting (in person or virtual instruction). This position requires a person with strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and flexibility.

Duties include, but are not limited to: recruit and train instructional support mentors for students enrolled in the LIFE program; process and track new hire paperwork for paid and volunteer mentors; organize and record mentor/tutor availability; match mentor/tutor schedules with student schedules; assign mentors/tutors to provide support to LIFE Students; coordinate mentors/tutors for small group instruction; co-teach mentor course; facilitate monthly mentor/tutor meetings; provide advising for one cohort of LIFE students.; meet 1:1 weekly regarding: 1) attendance; 2) student’s social and campus engagement; 3) academic/employment goals and interests; 4) roommate relationships; and 5) Level of support provided by mentors/tutors, and mentor/tutor attendance; review support needs, upcoming homework assignments, moodle and email access, academic and employment goals; develop and deliver instruction for LIFE program related courses; assist in the development of employment supports and task analysis for LIFE students in employment settings; provide job coaching supports as needed; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in special education, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field and experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities are required. The preferred candidate will have a master’s degree in special education, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field and two (2) years experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field. Experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

A master’s degree in special education with a focus on secondary transition, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field. Two years of experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Required Licensure and/or Certification:

A valid driver’s license
