Residential Support Coordinator

The Coastal Carolina University LIFE program seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Residential Support Coordinator (time limited with benefits), reporting to the Director of the LIFE Program. The Residential Support Coordinator will be responsible for providing instructional supports, classroom instruction and advising based on students’ individual needs in a hybrid setting (in person or virtual instruction). This position requires a person with strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and flexibility.

Duties include, but are not limited to: facilitate independent living instruction for first-third year LIFE Students, instruction includes financial literacy & budgeting, meal planning, grocery shopping and cooking; teach LIFE program related courses; provide student advising for one LIFE cohort; meet 1:1 with each LIFE Student in the cohort once a week regarding: 1) student attendance; 2) student social engagement; 3) Academic/Employment; 4) Roommate Relationships; 5) campus engagement; 6) Level of mentor supports received, mentor attendance for supports; review support needs, upcoming homework assignments, access to Moodle and email access; review academic and employment goals; work with University Housing to coordinate new residential mentor training; organize LIFE Residential training to align with University Housing RA training; provide LIFE Program specific residential training, before new students arrive in fall semester; provide ongoing training for Residential Support Mentors and Residential Support Assistants; manage Residential Support Mentor assignments and work schedules; work with LIFE Residential Support Mentors to develop weekly support schedules for LIFE students living on-campus; coordinate and facilitate weekly Residential Support Mentor and Residential Support Assistant meetings; ensure that cooking, shopping and cleaning schedules are up to date in each apartment or suite; make sure students living in apartment style housing are having weekly opportunities to practice cooking, shopping and cleaning; work with the LIFE Program Director to develop a budget for residential student events and programming; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in special education, social work, rehabilitation counseling or a related field and experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities are required. The preferred candidate will have a master’s degree in special education with a focus on secondary transition, social work, rehabilitation counseling or a related field and two (2) years of experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. A valid driver’s license is required.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in special education, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field. Experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Required Licensure and/or Certification
