The Coastal Carolina University LIFE program seeks a dynamic individual for the part-time position of Residential Support Coordinator, reporting to the Director of the LIFE Program. The Residential Support Coordinator will be responsible for providing instructional supports, classroom instruction and advising based on students’ individual needs in a hybrid setting (in person or virtual instruction). This position requires a person with strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and flexibility.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Providing instruction for independent living skills including the following courses: Introduction to Independent Living, Managing Personal Finances, Developing Independent Living Skills, Exploring Community Access, Building Self-Reliance, and Community Living Lab, individual practicum meetings with LIFE sophomore students, and academic advising.
Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field. Experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The preferred candidate will have a Master’s degree in Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation counseling and experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in both high school and post-secondary settings.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Social Work, or Vocational Rehabilitation. Experience working with young adults with intellectual disability.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience working with young adults with an intellectual disability. Experience working with young adults outside of K-12 educational settings.

Required Licensure and/or Certification

Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to teach, train and cook. Knowledge of computers and virtual technology. Knowledge of Office 365. Strong time management/organizational skills. Strong communication skills. Ability to work as part of team. Strong organizational skills.
