Assistant Maintenance Supervisor
Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position with benefits of Assistant Maintenance Supervisor (Trades Specialist V) in University Housing.
Duties include, but are not limited to: supervising maintenance technicians; managing day-to-day maintenance operations; performing high-level trades in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, appliance, and carpentry; managing and collaborating on projects of varying levels of complexity, confirming successful exchange of information, milestones, deliverables, operating procedures, follow-up, and completion; providing exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, venders, visitors and the community at large; maintaining documentation regarding work activities through StarRez housing software; requesting and utilizing equipment and materials appropriately; promoting best safety practices and confirming staff have completed all required trainings; operating University vehicles, such as box truck, pick-up truck, van, forklift, boom lift, and golf cart; inspecting Housing facilities and equipment; moving furniture, supplies and equipment; managing on-call rotation; following emergency protocols and collaborate with Resident Success Staff in emergency situations; completing general custodial work; and performing others duties as assigned. The Assistant Maintenance Supervisor provides essential services for the University and is a designated essential employee. Essential services are services the University provides to ensure the security, safety, and critical operations of the University during emergency conditions. During emergency events that result in class cancellation or campus closure, this position is expected to continue services as described in job function and as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and four (4) years of experience in all phases of general and preventative maintenance. Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory three (3) year driving record. Possession of U.S. Environmental Protection Administration “Universal” certification for handling and disposal of refrigerant is preferred. A successful candidate will also have working knowledge of operations and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools; must be able to operate University vehicles including vans, trucks, golf carts, forklifts, and “man-lift” devises; ability to understand oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; possess knowledge of safety practices; and the skills to make emergency and general repairs and/or adjustments to equipment.

Trades Specialist V (KC50/140794), full-time position with benefits. SC State pay band: 05. Normal work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must be able to work overtime, including before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
