Senior Professional Research Assistant

The Senior Professional Research Assistant (SPRA) will work within the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The senior PRA will serve as a data manager, clinical study coordinator, and project manager experienced in the areas of study databases. He/She will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Cuneo, to manage the STOPBLOQ Trial. This position has been designed to provide IRB coordination, budget monitoring, and interacting with personnel at NYU and other sites to optimize recruitment and retention of study participants. The position will act as a liaison and care coordinator for multiple recruitment sites. The role will be to coordinate activities required to perform clinical protocols, recruit for clinical studies, schedule and conduct study visits, consent subjects, accurately record and enter data into Trial Master, respond to data queries from study sponsors, and support physician investigators. The incumbent will assist with manuscript and grant writing and may perform extensive literature searches in this line of research support.

In addition, the Sr PRA will evaluate the fetal heart rate monitoring (FHRM) data from the Cloud database each day that the subject is enrolled. He/She will also enter the weekly echo data, results of any treatment and the neonatal/one-year ECG data into Trial Master. 

The research assistant will be available to trouble shoot any questions from the collaborating institutions and/or the mothers. The PRA will provide the mothers with a schedule of the audiotext screeners (ATS) with phone numbers and the dates everyone is “on-call.” If a research subject develops AV block, the Research Assistant will collect and enter data regarding treatment and outcome into the Trial Master database. She/he will communicate directly with co-investigators at the participating centers to ensure quality data collection and entry. She/He will support data manager on the project and engage in the monthly teleconference meetings with Drs. Cuneo, Buyon, and other PRAs in the study. She/He will analyze the entered data and provide a detailed report to Drs. Cuneo and Dr. Buyon (Co-PI’s) for the study every month.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
•    A Master’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)
•    One years’ experience as a research project manager
•    One years’ or equivalent using statistical software (e.g. SAS®, SPSS®) and running statistical analyses
•    One years’ experience utilizing multiple Electronic Data Capture systems
•    One years’ experience using REDCap or equivalent to build and manage multiple projects
