Description:

The Tulane Cancer Center is currently searching for a Research Instructor to serve as the Director of the Office of Clinical Research.  This position will be responsible for the operations and further development of Tulane Cancer Center's Office of Clinical Research.  This position will  collaborate with Cancer Center Faculty and use databases maintained by the Tumor Registrars in the Core Teaching Hospitals.  The Director prioritizes and submits clinical trials to the Center's Clinical Research Advisory Board for approval.  The Director is responsible for the submission of approved clinical trials to the Institutional Review Board and the subsequent compliance with all regulatory requirements.  The Director works with the Faculty, Medical School and Hospital Administration to assure that contracts with study sponsors are executed in a timely and fiscally sound manner and those subsequent fiscal records are maintained and submitted as required. The Director negotiates and executes clinical trial budgets with sponsors and oversee financial maintenance of those budgets. The Director identifies and/or develops information systems to facilitate data acquisition, management, and analysis of clinical trials.  The Director provides the direction and oversight to assure the quality of data acquired and submitted for analysis of all trials conducted through Tulane Cancer Center according to sponsor specifications (Federal, State, Local, Industrial, and Institutional), prepares and oversees all external audits of Tulane Cancer Center clinical trial activity.  The Director ensures orientation, training, and supervision of all OCR nursing, compliance, and clerical personnel.  The Director serves as the liaison between the TCC's OCR and Tulane's IRB and serves as a resource to interpret and instruct on policy for OCR personnel and Cancer Center Faculty.


Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Master’s degree in Business, Health Administration or relevant field
  2. Four years of clinical research experience
  3. Management, program planning, administration, and evaluation experience

  9. Ability to monitor quality control standards
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information
  11. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of personnel and diverse patient populations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. PhD in business, Health Administration, or other related field.
  2. Minimum five years experience in clinical trial administration within a Cancer Center
  3. Industry clinical trials contracting experience
