Normal Work Schedule: 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM, limited nights
Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients. The RN reviews physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization prior to implementing them; prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct, assisted or delegation to other staff.
Additional Department Summary: The RN is responsible for direct patient care activities to the highest degree of their licensure. The RN partners with the other clinical staff and providers to ensure medical students, residents and other learners academic and clinical experience prepares them to succeed in their post education endeavors. The RN will also partner with the enterprise services division of the college, including Health Informatics, Medical Billing, Medical Records and others to ensure patient billing and documentation are complete and accurate and follow all HIPPA and other regulatory requirements.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Current State of Alabama RN license. Must have a current CPR certification and have used an electronic health record system in a previous learning or employed role. Associates Degree of Nursing applicants accepted.
Skills and Knowledge: Successful candidate must show the following skills and traits: ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner or other qualified medical professional; efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills; excellent communication, public relations and customer service and telephone etiquette skills; ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment; desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions; willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient centered high quality customer friendly service; understanding of the need for strict confidentially of protected health information and the requirement to follow HIPAA regulations at all times; punctual and reliable, understanding that patient care is paramount, and extended work hours are needed during busier clinic periods.
