Under the general direction of the Vice Dean for Finance and Administration, serve as the Senior Director for Budget and Planning for the School of Engineering & Applied Science. This position will manage the school's decision support strategy; work with the Senior Director for Financial Services to drive efforts to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of Penn Engineering Financial Services; and participate in the leadership and execution of the school's operating and capital budget and planning efforts.

Job Description

The Senior Director for Budget and Planning is responsible for managing the school's decision support strategy to provide high quality and carefully curated data and analysis to respond to external surveys and empower school leadership to make data informed decisions. Work very closely with the Senior Director for Financial Services to drive efforts to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Penn Engineering Financial Services (PEFS) organization by seeking out efforts to improve critical business operations processes. Participate in the leadership and execution of the school's operating and capital budget and planning efforts. Working closely with the Executive Director and the Director for Decision Support, ensure that these efforts are well-coordinated and deadline-driven, with a strong commitment to prudent financial management.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the School's Decision Support Group whose purpose is to gather, analyze and report on School data in the areas of finance, human resources, research, academic activity, and space.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the PEFS organization to enhance customer service.
  • Provide strategic support to the school's operating and capital budget and planning efforts.
  • Plan and execute the strategy for developing, maintaining, and communicating policies and procedures that support PEFS operations.
  • Represent the school on various University wide committees, task forces and meetings.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field and a minimum of five years of related experience, preferably in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong financial, analytical, planning, and modeling skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
