Position Summary:The Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and UNC Children’s is seeking a physician faculty member to serve as a Division Chief for Pediatric Allergy and Immunology. This is a full-time, open rank/open term faculty position. Rank, salary, and appointment type will be determined at a level commensurate with the applicant’s experience and academic accomplishments.
The Division Chief reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. The Division Chief is responsible for leading a team of Pediatric Allergists/Immunologists, nurse practitioners, and researchers providing excellent clinical care, directing and expanding the research mission of the Division, mentoring early-career faculty and supporting the educational activities within the Division. Administrative responsibilities include team-building, budget management, personnel recruitment and supervision, and strategic planning. Strong preference will be shown to candidates who are nationally known investigators with evidence of administrative and teaching experience. Strong potential exists for broader leadership role(s) within the Department of Pediatrics and NC Children’s Hospital. Rank will be commensurate with training, experience, and academic accomplishments.
The successful candidate will be MD or MD/PhD with a background in pediatrics and board certified in Allergy/Immunology
Qualifications and Experience:Successful candidates should be eligible for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level and have experience in departmental or hospital leadership roles. Effective interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills are required. Experience with institutional quality improvement program and outpatient clinic leadership is highly preferred.
