Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow, Boca Raton, FL.

This Postdoctoral Fellow position provides opportunity for growth and development as an independent investigator in NIH funded research and enhance professional skills in academia. Directly accountable to the Primary Investigator, the Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct specific research projects related to stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) recovery. The Postdoctoral Fellow will provide intellectual and technical support to research programs and initiatives.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducts laboratory experiments related to specific project or initiative.
  • Gathers, summarizes, records and interprets data obtained from research projects/initiatives.
  • Plans subsequent work with review/approval of the principal investigator.
  • Reviews relevant literature to solve problems and contributes to manuscripts and grants.
  • Develops experimental and research protocols for the laboratory.
  • Instruct others in area of expertise.
  • Present research results at internal and external scientific venues.
  • Interprets and follows policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals/deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned for which the employee is qualified to perform.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. from an accredited institution in biological or related sciences required by the time of application.

Experience in immunology, flow cytometry, and molecular biology is highly preferred.

Track record of scholarly publication and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Competencies and Skills:

Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the research and development (R&D) function within an organization.

Knowledge of and ability to utilize tools and techniques for producing well-written, meaningful and usable documentation of research findings.

Knowledge of and the ability to use numerical methods to compile information about a given situation or condition.

Knowledge of and ability to gain insights concerning attitudes, beliefs, motivations and behaviors related to organization's products and services.

Knowledge of and ability to create reference content, such as tables of contents, indexes, glossaries, and technical abstracts of research documents.

Knowledge of and ability to locate, interpret and evaluate research findings compiled and documented by others and the use of this material to support empirical research.
