Occ Summary

Conduct independent research activities under the guidance of a faculty/mentor in preparation for a full time academic or research career.


Work Performed

Postdoctoral p ositions in computational biology are available in the laboratory of Dr. Jason Locasale. We (jlocasale.duke.edu) area group of young, energetic, and highly collaborative scientists consisting of biologists, computati onal biologists, and physical scientists. Under the direction of Dr. Lo casale, the postdoctoral fellow will be responsible primarily for conduc ting research.

Projects in sever al areas are available including: 1.)Understanding the influence of meta bolism on chromatin biology 2.)Computational modeling of metabolic regul ation 3.) Integrating cancer genomics and metabolomics data with biologi cal validation for precision anti-metabolite therapy 4.) Developing and applying tools for metabolomics and flux analysis5.) Quantitative biolog yof human nutrition and diet.

We are interested in developing and applying integrative computationa l approaches to understand metabolism in health and disease. Example da ta include but are not limited to genomics, metabolomics, and epigenomic s.

Example additional re sponsibilities:
•Supervising a research technician, medical students, and undergraduates in the lab 
• Develop and apply computatio nal methods and models of metabolism • Conduct genomics computations and machine learning on integrated genomics data 
• Help prepare grants, ma nage project collaborations, draft scientific manuscripts
•Required: Ph. D. in engineering, chemistry, physics,computer science, computational b iology or related fields
• Preferred: Excellent proven publication track record.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively with others.
