Salary Information

HIRING RANGE: $17.92-$21.08 per hour based on experience.
Pay Grade: 7

Job Summary

Assist users in the utilization of library services and materials.

Perform various tasks related to the acquisition and preparation of library materials, both physical and electronic.

Essential Functions

Assist at the library circulation desk each: checking materials in and out; preparing items for pick-up and inter-campus mail; answering routine questions about the library via phone, email, and in person; assisting user in the library with computers, printers, and copiers as needed; helping users locate items in the collection; accepting payment for items lost/damaged/overdue and updating the Library management system appropriately.

Perform acquisition and materials processing functions for the library, including but not limited to: pre-order processing to verify accuracy of new orders (both digital and physical); data entry and database query, via Microsoft Access and the library’s ILS, to ensure accurate tracking of items ordered; receive physical items (all formats) to ensure appropriate workflow to facilitate timely cataloging; expeditiously process physical items to provide students, faculty, and staff with prompt access new materials.

Perform other duties as assigned to include, but not limited to: inventory, shelf-reading, collecting and processing archival materials.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

One year library or general office experience.

Knowledge of basic library services.

Knowledge of common Microsoft applications.

Ability to interact effectively, courteously and impartially with diverse populations.

Customer focused paired with attention to details and accuracy.

Desired Qualifications

Recent experience working with an automated library system.

Recent professional experience with Microsoft products; experience with Microsoft Access in particular.

Recent experience working for a college.
