This position requires a person to have significant foundational knowledge and experience in the primary research field and complementary research methodologies. The person would largely work independently to perform a range of laboratory activities including complex tasks supporting the research project. This position expects that supervision of research technicians will occur depending on the size of the laboratory.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following work and studies:

Assess expression levels of xenobiotic transporters in cells and tissues with Real-time PCR and Immunostaining/Western blot;

Conduct and transporter assays for small molecule drugs;

•Collect, record and analyze project data;
•Write reports, prepare presentations, and write manuscripts
•Train and oversee the work of students and research technicians;
•Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
•Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
•A Master’s or PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology or related field; A bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience will also be considered;
•Experience of cell culture, RT-PCR and Immunostaining/Western blot;
•Highly motivated and committed, reliable, responsible, and dependable
•Team player, good oral and written communication skills;
•Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point;
Desired Qualifications:
•Experience of running cell permeability and drug transport assay;
•Knowledge/experience of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and LC-MS/MS

Education and Experience

Education:
•A Master’s or PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology or related field; A bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience will also be considered;

Experience:
•Research experience required
•Experience of cell culture, RT-PCR and Immunostaining/Western Blot required
