Responsible for providing academic advising to undergraduate majors in the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice. Counsels and advises students on a daily basis regarding academic program requirements, rules, regulations, and guidelines. Counsels students with regard to career development. Interprets policies, procedures, rules and regulations related to academic advising and student services. Approves admissions, re-admissions, withdrawals, course add/drops, re-instatements, graduation clearances, grade changes and dean’s holds. Performs graduation checks, major changes, certifications to upper division, etc.

Participates and conducts orientations and workshops when requested, such as recruitment fairs, transfer orientations, Spring Preview, Get to Know Your College, career development panels, and others. Assists with career development activities. Performs related duties as requested by supervisor in the absence of other personnel. Promotes college at community colleges and works with community college advisors. Works to increase graduation and retention rates. Conducts exit surveys to verify student contact information and post-graduation plans. Responds to student requests for information about undergraduate programs.Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and two years work experience; or a high school diploma and 6 years of related experience.

Experiencing communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, goals and objectives.

Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Experience interpreting academic program requirements and provide advice.

Experience prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Ability to utilize problem solving skills.Preferred A minimum of three years of student advising experience at the university or community college level is preferred.Pay Plan This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.Schedule If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5; Full Time.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
