Student status is required to be eligible for student positions. Must be enrolled in a minimum of six hours during a long semester. Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Limited to working no more than 19.5 hours per week.

Job Summary:

Supplemental Instruction (SI), is a nonremedial approach to learning that supports students toward academic success by integrating “what to learn” with “how to learn.” SI consists of regularly scheduled, out-of-class group study sessions driven by student needs. Sessions are facilitated by trained peer leaders who utilize collaborative activities to ensure peer-to-peer interaction in small groups.
The SI Leader will…
1.Attend all class meetings of the selected courses, take notes, and read all assigned materials including text(s) and supplemental readings
2.Conduct at least three to five 50-minute study sessions per week throughout the term using strategies learned through the SI Leader training workshop
3.Regularly meet with the SI Supervisor for debrief sessions
4.Ascertain course requirements and maintain contact throughout the term with course faculty member or designated representative
5.Complete necessary personnel paperwork
6.Attend SI Leader training workshop prior to the beginning of each term
7.Work with the SI Supervisor to select appropriate times and scheduling of SI sessions
8.Make periodic announcements about the availability of the SI sessions to the students
9.Ensure that the initial SI Survey, Midterm SI Feedback Survey and End-of-Course Survey are distributed and assist with data analysis
10.Collect attendance data for every SI session, including student names, course title, date and time of session
11.Assist SI Supervisor in the preparation of end-of-term reports as requested
12.Maintain a professional attitude about matter such as class standards, grades, and student complaints
13.Model appropriate professional attitudes and behaviors to staff, students and others
14.Provide your SI Supervisor with an up-to-date schedule of your SI sessions
15.Notify your SI Supervisor in advance if you cannot conduct an SI session as schedules
16.Maintain regular working hours
17.Other duties as assigned by the Director

Minimum Qualifications:

1.Student must have a minimum of 12 college credits or 4 courses on their academic transcript
2.An overall GPA of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale) is required
3.A grade of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale) in the selected course is preferred; prior enrollment with the faculty member who is to teach the selected course is preferred
4.Content-competency (to be determined by the selected course faculty member) is required
5.Good interpersonal and communication skills (to be determined by the SI Supervisor) are required

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent customer service skills a plus.

Salary:

$11.00 per hour
