Position Summary:

Incumbent assists in the management of the mechanical circulatory support (MCS) program. Participates in the clinical management of pre and post ventricular assist device (VAD) implant patients in collaboration with the physicians and coordinates the clinical evaluation of potential MCS candidates. Provides patient care and consultation during clinic visits, discharge and follow up. Is a resource for nursing and hospital staff on patient care, maintaining MCS equipment and. Oversees patient care in the mechanical circulatory program Facilitates the management of the mechanical circulatory patient population to promote efficient, cost effective, quality care to both the patient and the institution. Ensures compliance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines and other regulatory agencies.

Required Qualifications:

Must be able to participate in on call rotation and work occasional weekends & evenings

Current CA RN license

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Current ACLS certification

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Prior ICU Nurse experience

Basic Life Support Certification from AHA

BSN Degree

Minimum tone (1) year of experience in acute care with VAD/MCS

Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese (certain clinics may require this qualification)

Minimum one (1) year of experience as a VAD coordinator
