Job Description Summary

The Sr. Industrial Hygienist B is a member of a team that supports campus and laboratory health and safety under the direction of the Associate Director of Industrial Hygiene and Laboratory Safety. The industrial hygienist will perform laboratory and shop safety audits, risk assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and ergonomic assessments, and may also perform exposure assessments under the direction of Occupational Medicine or Risk Management. The industrial hygienist will manage the Hearing Conservation program, and will provide support for other Occupational Safety and Health Administration programs. Strong communication, technical writing and presentation skills are critical. All industrial hygienist are members of Penn's Hazardous Materials response team.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

-Inspections and laboratory audits
-Program development to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws
-Industrial hygiene monitoring
-Hazard and risk assessment
-Emergency response
-Ergonomic assessment and injury follow-up
-Hearing Conservation Program management
-Development and delivery of EHRS training
-Indoor air quality investigation
-Incident investigation and reporting

Qualifications:

BS in biology, chemistry, environmental science or engineering. MS, CIH or CSP preferred. Three to five years of experience in environmental health and safety or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Valid driver’s license. Ability to move freely and lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator.
