A research technician position is immediately available to work in research projects relating to the commercial production of edible mushrooms. The major responsibility of this position will include culturing fungal isolates in the laboratory, preparing substrates for fruiting mushroom cultures, maintaining and managing fruiting facilities, establishing production experiments in fruiting facilities, and statistical analysis of resulting data. The position is half-time and temporary, but opportunities for full time and permanent employment may be open with satisfactory performance and funding.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Culturing fungal isolates in the laboratory
  • Preparing substrates for fruiting mushroom cultures
  • Maintaining and managing fruiting facilities
  • Establishing production experiments in fruiting facilities
  • Statistical analysis of resulting data
  • Additional duties may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of mushroom taxonomy and biology
  • Ability to work independently with good oral and written communication skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalentlearning attained through experience required.
