The IT Clinical Systems Trainer 2 trains and supports the institution’s clinical systems, specifically the systems required for patient care. An employee in this position participates in pre-production simulations, workflow integration, testing, and validation of system functionality. Additionally, the clinical systems trainer oversees training activities to reinforce appropriate system usage in the delivery of robust patient-centered care. The incumbent is responsible for training curriculum development, training environment build, and the ongoing education of end users post go-live.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides end user training and support on the various clinical system applications.
  • Creates curriculum design, training manuals, classroom exercises, competency assessment and testing, and on-line computer-based learning modules in support of employee roles and job functions.
  • Revises existing materials as necessary to reflect the needs of the audience and makes application enhancements and system upgrades.
  • Builds and updates MST (training scenario and patient) environment to support training materials and realistic scenarios/workflows required for end user training.
  • Provides post-production support for end users, including reinforcement work sessions, departmental rounding, and on-the-job refresher in-services.
  • Develops training project plans in correlation with IT project planning and guidelines to meet implementation deadlines.
  • Participates in application testing, simulations, and go-live activities, including production support of new projects or production enhancements.
  • Participates in on-site support after system implementation, application enhancements, and system upgrades.
  • Reviews operational policies and procedures to assess the need for user training.
  • Develops system workflows to integrate system functionality with operational procedures.
  • Participates in business and clinical operations meetings to assess user feedback, gather future requirements for modifications, and provide status on competency, adoptions, and utilization rates.
  • Maintains super user programs to facilitate refresher training to the end user population within identified department areas.
  • Assists with communication to assigned groups regarding new features functionality, new workflows, training, system availability, and downtime.
  • Assesses the learning needs of clinical and administrative staff to prepare them for using the systems required for patient care.
  • Monitors assigned incident reports, makes referrals, directs issues appropriately and resolves issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with application analysts to resolve issue tickets and communicates resolution to end users.

Collaborates in the development of the Credentialed Trainer program. Prepares all materials and supplies needed for classes prior to training. Achieves and maintains Epic proficiency/certified status in assigned Epic application module(s). Demonstrates a willingness to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

Certification and Licensing:

Certification in relevant specialty or field

Experience:

Minimum 3 year of relevant experience

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
