Job Summary:

JobFunction:
Assists Director to ensure the safety and security ofpeople and property. Responsible for a variety of office management andclerical duties including data collection and recordkeeping. Assists inensuring the development, implementation, and updating of required writtensafety programs and plans. Assist with the administration of campus securityenforcement to include planning, personnel development, administration, andpublic relations. Implements practical and effective solutions to problems andseeks opportunities for better methods of service delivery.
This position reports to the Director of Safety andSecurity and provides administrative supervision to Campus Safety and SecurityOfficers. Provides strong leadership to ensure that the Campus Safety andSecurity Department meets its goals of supporting OSU-OKC through providing asafe and secure environment in which will allow students, staff, and faculty tolearn, grow and enjoy their University community experience.

EssentialJob Functions:

Security:

    With the Director, develop and, where necessary, publish plans and procedures regarding building evacuation, weather emergencies, traffic control, crowd control, general safety, in-service training, etc.
    Assist the Director with the administration of University and department personnel policies involving hiring, daily supervision, evaluation, disciplinary action, and the resolution of all problems related thereto; on a day-to-day basis.
    Schedule department staff, including overtime details to assure adequate security presence at all times.
    Assist with the planning and maintenance of the budget, as well as all other departmental fiscal affairs.
    Assists Director supervise the security force on campus. Participates with team members both in the department and the University to set and attain established goals and objectives.Responds quickly to new issues and challenges.Promotes diversity and equal opportunity by maintaining an environment free of discrimination and harassment.
    Hires, supervises, coaches, disciplines and performs evaluations of security staff. Reinforces productive and customer focused behavior. Trains security officers in technical and procedural responsibilities, to include securing building and grounds during and after normal hours. Instructs all evening and weekend security personnel concerning opening and closing of classrooms, buildings, events or other functions that would have an impact on campus safety and security.Assigns staff as needed to cover various shifts.
    Implements practical and effective solutions to problems and new methods of service delivery. Encourages cooperation between departments and divisions to solve problems.
    Provides accurate and timely reports for managerial/Administrative action. Keeps supervisor informed of critical concerns.
    Takes appropriate action as needed, in the event of an emergency, to handle safety and security situations effectively and professionally. Handles evacuations and coordinates with Administration in the event of a crisis.
    Reviews all daily logs for accuracy, content and follow-up information to the Director of Safety and Security.Assists in the upkeep of all daily logs, incident reports, key agreements, employee hangtag/vehicle information and all office files.Maintains reviews and re-orders all safety and security equipment/forms used by security officers.Maintains and stocks all office supplies.
    Conforms to all state laws and regulations and completes all necessary reports.Oversees enforcement of departmental policy and procedures.
    Assists in the safety of the campus to include checking mechanical, electrical and storage areas for unusual or unsecure situations.
    Responsible for condition of all parking areas and makes recommendations concerning any maintenance and repairs required.
    Attends required in-service and other training programs as requested.Must maintain 16 hours of continuing education.Contribute to effectiveness/quality of campus programs to include extracurricular programs.Continue to be involved in personal growth and development. Motivates staff to constantly improve performance while considering professional development.
    Coordinates and transports daily deposits for Business Services.
    Coordinates Switchboard operations.
    Completed al mandatory training and two professional development per year. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Safety:

Chemical Safety/Hazardous Materials

    Assist in coordinating campus wide Chemical Hazardous waste disposal, and assist departments with collection.
    Assist in coordinating campus wide Bio-Hazardous waste disposal, and assist departments with collection.
    Assist in campus wide and departmental safety training.
    Assist in Hazardous communication training to faculty and staff, upon hire, and annually thereafter.
    Periodically conduct Lab inspections.
    Periodically conducts on site surveys
    Monitors and assist campus departments with up to date Chemical Inventory List.
    Insures campus departments SDS are up to date, and readily available upon request.Develops, implements, and updates safety programs for the campus, such as, but not limited to, Blood Borne Pathogens, Personal Protective equipment, Hazardous Communication, and Lockout/Tagout.Assist with accident investigation and collection of evidence for on job injuries.
FireProtection

    Inspects, and ensures the campus Portable Fire Extinguishers monthly checks are conducted and are operational.Coordinates annual inspection, testing, and maintenance done by outside vendor in accordance to NFPA Standards.
    Coordinates semiannual inspection, testing and maintenance conducted by outside vendor of Kitchen fire suppression system in accordance to NFPA Standards.
    Coordinate semiannual inspection, testing, and cleaning of kitchen vent hood is conducted by outside vendor in accordance to NFPA Standards.
    Assist and coordinates annual inspection, testing, and maintenance of the campus Fire Alarm System in accordance to NFPA Standards.
    Assist and coordinates annual inspections, testing, and maintenance of Campus Sprinkler System in accordance to NFPA Standards.Assist with the Planning and assist with conducting periodical fire drills for the campus.
FleetVehicles

    Coordinates and maintains Fleet vehicle maintenance and records, and provides guidance to the campus on long term maintenance plans, and objectives.Occasionally use the campus reservation management system to reserve campus vehicles.
Training/QuarterlyTraining

    Assist with and provides, develops, and coordinates mandatory quarterly training for faculty/staff.
    Assist with the development and conducts new hire safety training.
    Occasionally provides, develops and coordinates campus safety training for students.
    Assist departments with department specific training.
    Conducts/coordinates annual training for students in emergency preparedness.
EmergencyOperations

    Assist with the campus Emergency Operation Plan.
    Develops and Coordinates Training for NIMS activities and University compliance.
    Assist and conducts hazardous assessments for disaster planning.
    Coordinates and inputs emergency contact information into Cowboy Alert for parents and guardians of the Child Development School.
    Provides emergency alert notification to the campus community in a critical incident or timely warnings.
    Assist in planning and recognition for response in critical incidents involving the campus or community.
    Assist, coordinates, and delivers training for the campus Emergency Response teams/floor captains.
Switchboard/Clerical

    Occasionally operate and man the switch board.
    Occasionally assist customers with keys.

    Completion of Occupational or Environmental Safety Associates in Applied Science.
    Must maintain required hours of CLEET approved courses per year.
    Valid Oklahoma drivers’ license; good driving record.
    Licensed unarmed security guard from the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET).
WorkExperience:

    Experience in Environmental safety, with an emphasis in fire protection.
    Experience in Law enforcement or 5 years of Security experience.
    Working Knowledge of NIMS.
    Experience with computer software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
    Minimum of 3 years experience as a security guard/officer.
    Minimum of 3 years experience in supervisory or lead position.
    Experience conducting, implementing, and writing safety programs, courses, workshops, etc.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:

    Ability to work alone and to promote a positive, safe and secure environment.
    High degree of integrity and initiative.
    Strong knowledge of Clery Act reporting for universities.
    Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
    Strong working knowledge of OSAH standards.
    Strong working knowledge of NFPA, IBC, and FIC codes.
    Working Knowledge of ANSI Standards.
    Strong working Knowledge of Lab Safety Practices and protocols.
    Ability to manage multiple priorities imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, and public/student contact.
    Maintain confidentially and discreteness in close partnership with Human Resources and other departments as required.
    Good administrative skills to include computer proficiency and accurate and organized recordkeeping.
    Strong attention to detail to detect irregularities and changes in the environment of the campus community.
    Strong ability to maintain a customer focused outlook, and the ability to work with the campus community.
    Ability to handle multiple task, for short term and long range planning.

PreferredQualifications:

    Experience working in an educational environment.
    Minimum of one-year experience as a security guard/officer, safety manager
    Current licensed unarmed security guard from the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET).
    Bachelor’s degree in police science, occupational/environmental safety or a related field or comparable experience.
    Background in Law Enforcement.
WorkingConditions:

    Will occasionally work irregular hours and/or shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays.
    May be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
    Must wear issued uniform, uniform articles, and uniform accessories.
    Must present a clean, professional uniform appearance while maintaining normal and acceptable standards of personal hygiene.
PhysicalRequirements:

    Physical and mental stamina to perform the essential job functions.
    May need to lift up to 45 pounds. If an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift.
    Extensive standing and/or walking; Occasional bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, and pushing/pulling; Manual dexterity/visual ability to operate motor vehicle, computer and radio. Repetitive movement of hand/wrist.
