Posting DetailsPosting Number: 0601153 Position Category: Student Services Paraprofessional/Professional Job Title: Student Services Retention Training Specialist Position Code: 00657X Position Type: Staff Department: Enrollment Services Nature of Work: Under the general supervision of the Enrollment Services Center Manager, this position independently provides customer service for new and continuing students. Specifically, the position fulfills receptionist duties, receive payments, processes registration paperwork, scheduled appointments, and provides frontline and the solution contact center customer services. Customer services is provided in-person, to the front counter, via email, and over the telephone. This position also provides general programmatic support for enrollment services, financial aid, and/or student development functions and staff. Depending on the person's area of expertise and/or assignment, this support may include, but is not limited to processing transcripts, inputting test scores, file management, data entry, state or federal reports, database management and/or troubleshooting, receiving or sending mail, and/or general administrative/clerical tasks. Provide support services that assist members of the Enrollment Services Center in acquiring or enhancing the knowledge and skills they need to perform the job functions. Provide application based training services to members of the Enrollment Services Center in conjunction with other entities of Enrollment Management and Student Success and Albany State University. Training and Experience: Bachelor's degree or four years of relevant experience
Knowledge of business productivity applications and higher education systems technology and their relationship to organizational business processes
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level associated with the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position
Demonstrated strong telephone, email and interpersonal communications skills
Demonstrated commitment to pluralism and the ability to support a diverse workplace and educational environment
Providing learning opportunities in a customer focused, user-centric environment that relies on internal and external service providers
Teaching the concepts and processes of the various departments of Enrollment Management to individuals at a variety of skill levels from the novice to the expert user
Using technology in training sessions to increase the effectiveness of the training
Ability to quickly learn how applications and various systems wok and how they are used or could be used in a large complex business environment
Ability to map training needs to system features and functionality and lead teams to develop best practice solutions
Ability to develop clear, concise training and documentations materials
Attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively; excellent interpersonal and customer services orientation
Strong written communications and presentation skills
Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as be a strong cross-functional team player
Creating documentation to support and enhance the learning experience of member being trained
Completing tasks in a collaborative environment

? Master's degree from an accredited institution
? Work experience in a University's office of registration, admissions, cashiering, financial aid, support services or a related function
? Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities
? Preference given to those with demonstrated knowledge of Banner and Argos Report software; familiarity with other specific applications used by the University a plus Testing Requirements:Illustrative Examples of Work: Assists student in person or by phone; refers individuals to appropriate personnel when required
Interpret policies and procedures for students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members
Processes student payments, including tuition, parking tickets and decals, and other fees
Maintains cash drawer; prepares daily monetary receipt summaries
Processes student information forms, including enrollment services, and financial aid forms
Advises financial aid applicants concerning deadlines, application procedures, and types of financial aid available
Receives financial aid paperwork and reviews for completeness and eligibility
Assists student with access to BANNER system, student email, and other online services
Assists students with changes of major; enters information into the BANNER system, counsels students with regards to changes of major, informing them of course requirements and related financial aid changes
Assist with pre-registration and registration activities
Assist, design, develop, and/or facilitate training to the members of the Enrollment Services Center
Sorts and distributes mail
Assists in maintaining files and records
Create courses and training curriculum
