Direct supervision, training, and development of (1) maintenance, (1) custodial supervisor, and (1) coordinator. Indirect supervision of approximately (6) maintenance technicians, (1) custodian, and multiple temporary positions.
Responsible for implementing best practices that result in operational efficiencies, strong customer service, and proper care, stewardship, and appearance of housing facilities. Training and Experience: This position requires a master's degree in an appropriate field within student affairs, preferably higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or a related field and two years of graduate assistant or professional experience in a college housing/residence life setting. Excellent skills in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with or ability to learn, Maxient, StarRez and Banner database systems. Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills Testing Requirements: Background Check is required. Illustrative Examples of Work: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ADMINISTRATION/STAFF SUPERVISION - Responsible for the selection, training, and supervision of the residence hall staff specific administrative tasks and functions for the residence hall and the overall residential life program.
* Meet bi-weekly with each Area Coordinator (AC)/Hall Manager (HM) to assess hall environments, student concerns and behaviors, community trends, and programs.
* Provide goal setting, mid-year evaluation, and year-end evaluation for each AC/HM.
* Train ACs and HMs in techniques and methods for instituting on-going constructive evaluations of staff.
* Coordinate student staff training/development/recognition.
* Assist AC/HM in responding to student issues, including roommate conflicts and physical, emotional, identity, or psychological concerns.
* Promote staff teamwork and coordinate staff duty / area coverage. Support the development of residential Learning Communities.
* Directly oversee the AC/HM on call process. Advise and assist hall management staffs in responding to concerning incidents or potential policy violations in and around the residence halls.
* Regular interaction with residents, Area Coordinators, Hall Managers, Resident Assistants during evenings and weekends in support of a culture of involvement and engagement.
Staff Employment
* Oversees hiring, disciplinary documentation, and terminations of full-time and part-time staff members including students.
* Oversees Recruitment, Selection and Training with the selection and training of all student staff members as needed.
* Review graduate and undergraduate staff GPAs each semester to insure alignment with Residence Life policy.
* Assistance in coordinate the housing assignments process with the Assignment Coordinator in the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
* Respond to campus concerns via a rotating "on call" schedule and act as central campus contact in absence of Director.
* Coordinate fall, spring, and summer student check-in and checkout system for all residence halls on two campuses.
* Aid in strategic planning for the Housing and Residence Life department.
* Adjudicate violations of college policy and document through the Maxient Conduct system.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - collaborate with institutional partners and resources for the continued development and support of students, staff, faculty, and others.
* Be accessible, visible and present during all check-in and check-out dates.
* Attend staff-planned community development activities and educational events.
* Promote recognition and appreciation of students and staff.
* Create vision and goals for side of campus in which they oversee.
* Promote an inclusive community through role modeling, challenging others, and emphasizing respect
* Participate in divisional committees, search committees, training and development opportunities
* Serve as a source of information about college and its resources to students, staff, faculty, families, and others.

GENERAL PROCESSES - participate in overall management of residence life through leadership in departmental and divisional processes.
* Serve as a judicial hearing officer and support the divisional protocol regarding the student code of conduct.
* Assist with the development, planning and implementation of RA training, including in-service training.
* Participate in the recruitment and selection processes for student and professional staff.
* Assist with most aspects of the housing selection process for new and returning students.
* Attend and participate in weekly Housing and Residence Life office meetings, Student Affairs meetings, retreats, and other gatherings as needed.
* Complete weekly and annual reports.
