Posting DetailsPosting Number: 0601189 Position Category: Laboratory Paraprofessional/Professional Job Title: Lab Coordinator/Technician Position Code: 00606X Position Type: Staff Department: Biological Sciences Nature of Work: Lab Coordinator / Technician will assist in planning of research, conducting experimental analyses, and report/manuscript preparation as part of the soil microbiome project. Position is available immediately for one year appointment but up to three years, contingent upon performance and continued availability of
funding. Training and Experience: Master's Degree in microbiology, ecology, soil science or closely related field are preferred. Prior experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing (NGS) data is desirable.
The successful applicant should have excellent communication, inter-personal, and writing skills. Use of personal computer; use of micro-soft office (word processing and excel); Keen understanding of biological principles and lab techniques; Good organizational skills that enable the management of lab and equipment. Testing Requirements:Illustrative Examples of Work: 1) Conduct experiments related to monitoring rhizobial microbiome under tritium impact using
NGS
2) Prepare reports and assist publishing research data in peer-reviewed journals
3) Assist the PI in activities that lead to research
4) Manage the laboratory and maintain instruments
5) Manage the day-to-day activity of undergraduate students in the laboratory
6) Conduct soil sampling biannually
