Posting DetailsPosting Number: 0601147 Position Category: Director Div/Dpt AD Job Title: Director of Marketing and Communications Position Code:Position Type: Staff Department: Institutional Advancement Nature of Work: Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for leadership of the university's marketing (and strategic communications functions which include but are not limited to branding, messaging, academic program marketing, enrollment marketing, media and public relations.

Director of Marketing and Communications will lead efforts to elevate the university's profile and steward its reputation with global, national, and regional news media; prospective students and their families; and other influencers; additionally, the Director will:

Lead a centralized marketing and communications team in the areas of web communications and management, creative services (graphic design), marketing and brand strategy, social media, media relations and public information, and crisis communications.

Supervise the following staff members: Graphic Designer, Multimedia Designer/Web Content Administrator, Photographer, Marketing/Communications Specialist, and the Social Media Marketing Specialist.

Coordinate and manage internal campus-wide communications, and in collaboration with the President, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, and other administrative and academic leaders will guide the development and implementation of strategies and activities that enhance the university's visibility,

Write prompt and impactful news stories, press releases, and other public relations and editorial materials for the University website and as content for social media posting,

Develop and distribute executive level communications, create engaging presentations and publications.

Promote and protect the university's brand and reputation among external and internal constituents,

Develop a strategic plan related to enrollment marketing,

Raise awareness of the university, and promote the reputation of the university, while inspiring all university stakeholders,

Proofread and edit communications to distribute to internal and external constituents,

Effectively oversee all local, statewide, national, and international media relations and outreach functions to promote university initiatives,

Proactively identify communication opportunities and develops supporting programs that positively positions the university and provides positive stakeholder reviews and media coverage,

Oversees all branding, establishing standards for the university brand, and enforcing compliance among all stakeholders,

Directs the marketing and advertising for the university, promoting all aspects of the university to prospective students via mediums such as radio, billboards, social media, television and other forms of communication. Training and Experience: -Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the position or a combination of relevant experiences.

-5 years of management experience in higher education marketing and communications.

-Demonstrated knowledge of brand development and current marketing and communications trends including new media channels.

-Ability to articulate and translate the institutional brand into print and digital formats.

-Ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure strategic brand alignment across all communications channels.

-Demonstrated ability to train, manage, encourage, and motivate a high-functioning team. Testing Requirements:Illustrative Examples of Work: Works collaboratively with Institutional Advancement staff to support advancement of fundraising initiatives and including the Case Statement for Support, development of a university magazine and other publication(s), marketing events to include Homecoming and Founder's Day.

Development and execution of a communications campaign constantly communicating university accomplishments (including those of faculty, staff, students, and alumni) using various communication channels (e.g. publications, social media, website, videos, brochures and other) to position the university very well for successful friend-raising and fundraising.
